The primary consultant services provided by Lakota Consulting LLC may include:
- Serve as a point of contact for tribal nations. Identify additional decision makers and technical staff who can also assist tribes with their questions or issues
- Recommend, in coordination with tribes and other state and federal agencies, the most effective communication practices with tribal nations
- Train staff on best practices in tribal cultural properties and historic properties preservation
- Provide assistance in policy development and support to employees and staff
- Develop, update and help implement a Native Nations Plan
- Assist clients as they develop program specific tribal policies and procedures
- Coordinate with regional offices and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices and/or other Tribal Liaison offices to ensure consistent and effective communication with tribes. When needed, assist as a Tribal Liaison to facilitate meetings, negotiate intergovernmental agreements and help reconcile differences between Tribal Governments
- Cultural Competency Training
- Staff professional development and organization under the supervision of the principal investigator, project manager and/or supervisor
- Coordination and supervision of ethnographic components for archaeology projects
- Coordinate and working directly in the field with multiple Principal Investigators, field crews, and crew chiefs
- Utilize an interdisciplinary approach where required for NHPA, NAGPRA, NEPA, and ARPA processes
- Create a strong team with project engineers, archaeologists, and other professional staff as an essential formula for success on projects
- Work independently or with other archaeologists and outside groups
- Exercise a degree of independent thinking, creativity, and initiative in the performance of contractual agreements
- Supports the principal investigator, project manager, and/or assigned crew chiefs and archaeologists in conducting public meetings and gathers public input on a variety of topics
- Include varying degrees of assistance with agency coordination, public involvement, impact assessment, document preparation, progress reports, and legal compliance
- Document preparation outlines and write documents for Class I, II, and III Cultural Resource investigations
- Cultural resource inventories where burials, cairns, stone alignments, and/or other traditional cultural properties are involved
- Attend and assist with cultural and spiritual engagements and/or ceremonies as they pertain to specific Native American groups
- Provide all services in a legal and ethical manner
- Effectively deal with difficult situations and confrontation both internally and externally with contractors and clients
- Perform responsibilities with attention to detail and deadlines
- Project a professional, positive attitude and exercise confidentiality
- Understand, interpret, participate in, and implement company-mandated safety policies as per contractual agreements
